In 1985 Tom & Alane Waters found themselves in the fast lane of Christian service with no time for Christ. Tom was the personal ministries director of a 1300 member church in the suburbs of Chicago. He and Alane were very active in outreach ministries and Bible studies until one Friday when he asked Alane, "What’s the most important thing you can accomplish in this life?" She was just finishing her Bachelors Degree in nursing; maybe it would be a Masters Degree next. Instead Alane said, "To see the crown of life placed upon the heads of our children," to which Tom responded, "Then something has got to change in our lives." The change began that night when they knelt with their children, at that time only Allison & Emily, and prayed "Lord, we’re willing to go anywhere, do anything, give up anything, to hear the words 'Well done, thou good and faithful servant' and see the crown of life placed on the heads of our children." In 1986 they moved with their family Allison (5), Emily (3), and Josiah (3mo.) to the mountains of Montana. As they continued learning to allow God to direct their lives and do the work in their own home first, God began to open opportunities to share with others. The Waters family began ministering together which led to the formation of Restoration International in 1989.
